In preparation for the "State of the Church" address this Sunday I have been asking my self the following questions and would love your response. What causes you to be willing to sacrifice time, talent, treasure for something? As I read the scriptures those in the early church sacrificed much and Paul even goes to the extent of saying that he considers all "rubbish" that he may gain Christ. I've had times when I have thought this way but I've also experienced the times of "going through the motions" or just wanting to play it safe. Two things I have found contribute to my sliding into the "safe" mode. First I find myself not spending as much time delighting in the Lord and second I find myself becoming more internal focused rather than externally focused. Changed lives really charge my spiritual pulse. What causes you to want to sacrifice, live beyond yourself, to consider the things in this life "rubbish"? Would love to hear!
