Matt moved three years ago to East Asia to become part of a team that focuses on establishing a church planting movement among an unreached people group. The strategy Matt’s team implores for reaching this unreached people group is completely dependent on discipleship, specifically intracultural discipleship. They have also established a reputable consulting company that gives guidance to Chinese businesses, including culture training and ESL training for companies that desire to work with American Corporations. Please click on the video below to watch Matt’s annual update to hear of ways that he has seen the Lord at work this past year as well as ways that we can be praying for him this upcoming year!
Gracious and merciful God,
we eat and drink
yet we still hunger and thirst for more—for you.
And so we praise you for the way
you replenish and renew our lives.
You established a new and everlasting covenant of grace
in the person of Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord.
Through him we seek you and find you, O God.
Through him we call on you and know that we are heard.
For, through him,
the distance between your thoughts and our thoughts,
your ways and our ways,
is spanned by your divine love.
We praise and adore you, O God,
Through Jesus Christ our Lord and our Saviour. Amen
As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.
Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper,
and instead of briers the myrtle will grow.
This will be for the Lord’s renown,
for an everlasting sign,
that will endure forever.”
- Isaiah 55:10-13
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
- Romans 8:1-4
Offering is a form of worship.
As we give to the Lord from the blessings He has given us, we are engagin in worship. We are saying, "Lord, you are the owner of it all and this is just another way to express our deepest gratitude for your faithfulness in our lives."
