How Shall We Then Live

Prayer
We gather this morning because Fear is the instinct and habit of our world; We plot and plan Hide and Hide away But all the while you, our God, reign. We gather this morning because threats and possibilities shake us We are frightened by the power they seem to hold And obsessed with an unknowable future But all the while you, our God, reign. We gather this morning because Fear is our habit, but hope is Yours. When we hide and preserve You seek and reveal. Giving and giving And meeting our fear with love. We gather today because you, our God, reign.
Scripture Reading
8 “But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, 9 I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. 11 “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. 12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. 13 For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
- Isaiah 41:8-13
Offering
Just a reminder that our offering is a form of worship. We may not be able to meet corporately as a church body for a few weeks, but we will continue with ministries both local and global. As wise stewards, we’ve stopped all unnecessary spending to be able to run as lean as possible during this time, but prayerfully/faithfully continue with your regular giving.
Final Thoughts
Spend a few moments praying out loud.
- Thank the Lord for his faithfulness in the midst of the crisis
- Intercede for the needs of the world, your community, and individuals
- Pray for Kingdom opportunities to be a helper
